If you are purchasing a puppy as a Christmas present please, please, please make a plan well in advance of Christmas to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your new puppy!!! If you are traveling to other peoples’ homes, have hectic Christmas holiday planned or haven’t arranged for a responsible pre-Christmas puppy sitter and you are thinking of purchasing a puppy as a Christmas present please consider waiting until after the Holidays. As a breeder, Christmas puppies are a big concern. Ethical breeders as a group usually steer clear of placing puppies at holiday time. We have a huge fear that an impulse buyer domes a puppy to a forgotten or unwanted future. It is also unfortunately a time when puppy mills have a bumper crop of puppies available.

Please understand that the Christmas morning festivities can be very traumatic, overwhelming and scary for a puppy. It is also very hard to safely and quietly hide a puppy until Christmas morning, travel or visit relatives.

This is also the time of year that we are busy with our own holiday plans. We will NOT fly a puppy unaccompanied! Occasionally we have helpers that can meet people part way, but they do charge for this.

We suggest to people that want a Christmas puppy, but don’t want the huge puppy time commitment during the Holidays, that they wrap puppy toys, a crate, a collar, puppy dishes and a picture of the puppy. A few days after the brunt of the Holiday hoopla has settled down they arrange to pick up their puppy. This has actually worked out better for most families, especially with the weather factoring into the stress of a pre-Christmas puppy pick-up.

UPDATE ON THE NEW USDA-APHIS RULE TO GO INTO EFFECT 11-18-2013! The new rule will not allow customers to purchase pets sight unseen-as well as shipping of pets to their new homes will no longer be possible.  Customers must arrange to meet any puppy they are interested in prior to finalizing the purchase of their new best friend.  Deposit is required to hold the puppy-and new owner can fly in to Rochester or Buffalo, NY for pickup-or we do have flight nannies available.  This is a federal rule and applies to all 50 states in the USA.  Thanks for your understanding.

Bear - Not For Sale
Bear - Not For Sale
Bear tribute - http://www.nybds.com/#!bear/cvvfFrom: Michelle Ryan.
Pam, We have great news. Ted and Bear have just been named the 2012 National Bird Dog Challenge "Amateur Flushing Champions". We have traveled across the nation this year, and everyone knows Bear and ask where he is from. He is the most gentle and intellegent dog, but the moment he is in the field, his instincts come alive. Bear has a soft personalitity for the "Hunting" world, but with positive force free taining and patience, we have proved most dog trainers wrong. Show dogs can hunt! Go to: NYBDS, choose "dogs of...", then "Bear" for more information. Thank you for the best dog of our lives.
